SaltWorks® commitment to the purity and quality of our natural salts extends to the safety of our state-of-the-art facility. We have rigorous safety processes to ensure top quality of all of our salts, while preserving the artisanal craftsmanship and unique characteristics of each crystal.
Safety and quality has always been our top priority. SaltWorks is licensed by the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) for food processing. Our facility in Washington is registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is in compliance with the requirements of the Bioterrorism Act and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). We have carefully built a network of trusted and reputable production partners and require that all are also registered with the FDA. We personally certify the authenticity of each salt that we source from across the globe.
Our in-house quality control and engineering departments work together to develop and implement processes for safely screening and handling all salts. Our proprietary, certified system includes sifters, sieves, rare earth magnets, metal detection and color sorting—our own Optically Clean® technology—that ensures the purest, most pristine salts are delivered to our customers worldwide.
SaltWorks proudly holds the following certifications:
SaltWorks also meets all Codex standards for food-grade salts.
In addition, all of our sea salts and mineral salts are:
SaltWorks is Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Level 2 certified with an Excellent rating, which is the highest possible. To achieve this certification, SaltWorks was evaluated by NSF International, an independent and accredited third party, which conducted a thorough food safety audit to ensure that our processes and facility adhere to the rigorous requirements of the SQF Code.
The SQF Program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which works to improve food safety in every step of the supply chain and to ensure delivery of safe foods to consumers. Our certification guarantees that the safety and quality of our products is recognized globally, and demonstrates that we have implemented and maintain stringent safety controls.
The USDA classifies salt as a mineral and not an agricultural product, which means there is not yet an organic certification available for salt products in the United States. All of our salts are all natural and contain no anti-caking or bonding agents, additives, artificial flavors or processing aids. SaltWorks products, with the exception of our naturally flavored salts, comply with organic standards and are thus considered organic compliant.
All of SaltWorks sea salts and mineral salts are all natural and unrefined. We do not use any processing aids, ever. Never washed or chemically processed, each one of our salts are created with our philosophy that all-natural products taste and feel better.
We are meticulous when sourcing all of our sea salts and work to ensure that they are harvested and processed according to our high standards. From our pristine natural sea salts to our naturally smoked and flavored salts featuring all real ingredients, SaltWorks has developed proprietary processes to produce the highest quality, all-natural salts on the market. Our cold smoking and infusion techniques create intensely flavored salts that are free of artificial flavors, colors, liquid smoke or other additives.
SaltWorks works diligently to develop advanced quality control processes to ensure the purity of our natural seas salts. We make sure every single grain of salt meets our strict quality standards. Every salt is certified authentic, demonstrating our commitment to and confirming the genuineness of our products.
Salt is not genetically modified, and SaltWorks does not use genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or their derivatives. SaltWorks facility is allergen free and all of our salts are naturally gluten free.
