Description

Harvested from the clear waters of the Mediterranean and dried by natural solar evaporation, Mediterra® Sea Salt is a crisp, straightforward salt that retains its ocean-borne minerality in a pure, clean-tasting crunch. The broad range of grain sizes makes this all-natural, additive-free sea salt an ideal choice for any recipe in your kitchen—whether it’s baked, boiled, braised or brined. Try it as an upgrade from your everyday table salt, either in a salt shaker or salt mill, or just keep a bag of it on hand for when you’ll need to brine that Thanksgiving turkey. Use a pinch here and there to salt your salads, soups and snack mixes, but be sure to keep a good supply, because you’ll never want to go back to just plain salt.

Extra Coarse Grain: A hefty grain, try Extra Coarse Mediterra sea salt for seafood presentations or in brines for bigger roasts.

Mediterra Mediterranean Sea Salt (Extra Coarse Grain) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Smaller than picture I assumed the picture was not life size, even from a smart phone where the image would be a shrunken version of the actual product. However, it is WAY finer than depicted. Fast shippings, but the product itself was not at all what I wanted or expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I only buy this type of salt to make my sea salt soap bars. Over the years my customers have said that my salt bars are one of the few things that actually help their eczema and acne! Thank you for making such a high quality product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tasty Value! We're on our fourth bag of SaltWorks salt. We like the coarse grain as it works great in our salt grinder. The flavor is fabulous and we feel the value can't be beat. We trust the source of the product and are extremely satisfied.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wrong kind of salt for cooking. I was looking for a culinary salt to replace that awful Himalayan Pink salt that is way too high in iron and chose the Mediterra. It is just not right for cooking but did make an excellent bath soaking salt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So glad to find this! I've been looking everywhere for what they call here 'extra coarse' sea salt. In Italy, it is very common, and you can find it in any grocery store for less than a dollar a kilo. In the US, however it's very difficult to find, and if you do the price is ridiculously high. EVERY single kitchen in Italy has a big box of this in the kitchen along with the fine salt. When boiling pasta COARSE sea salt is always used. It is also used when cooking with a 'piastra' or sort of a cast-iron griddle that's used on the stovetop for grilling. It is first sprinkled with the extra coarse salt to help keep the meat from sticking, and also impart saltiness. Sometimes fish are baked in a ceramic pot surrounded with coarse salt. Everywhere I looked online, the salt was either not coarse enough, or if it was they wanted ridiculous prices for it. It's only SALT after all, not gold. I'm so glad I found Salt Works - they offer just what I wanted for a VERY fair price. I will be a steady customer. another nice thing is that they tell you the size of the grains in millimeters, unlike others that just show a photo with no size reference.
