Murray River Salt Flakes are light & delicate peach colored flakes. They have a wonderfully mild flavor. The texture is ideal for use as a finishing salt. The crystals melt quickly and evenly making it ideal for cooking and baking.

The Murray River is the greatest of Australia's rivers. The source of its water is the snowy Australian Alps. Salt is a natural feature in many Australian landscapes. The Murray-Darling Basin’s low rainfall and high evaporation have combined to concentrate salt in the groundwater. This salt is produced naturally from the underground brines in the Murray Darling Basin. A red pigment, carotene, is secreted from the salt tolerant algae. The underground saline waters have been laying dormant for thousands of years. By utilizing these waters the environment is improved and a beautiful salt is produced.

I have to tell you that this is the best salt I have ever tasted and cooked with. It is extremely tasteful. You only need one lief/sparkle if salt and you can already taste it. It melt like butter... you don't need to wait like you do with other processed salt. I would pay anything for this salt. It is the best value our there.

We have even stopped serving sauces with our meats, because a sprinkle of pink salt brings out the natural flavors of the meats far more than any sauce. The Murray River is a very light, flaky salt which means that we can control how much salt goes on any given surface. By contrast, the Himalayan pink salt is very dense and fine grained....it is easy (almost impossible to avoid) over salting. The Murray River blows the doors off Maldon and the other European salts.

I use it for cooking and at the table. When I searched my original vendor, it was nowhere to be found. So relieved to find it at The Saltworks, as it would have been missed!

I have been using this brand for a little over a year and it's become our go-to salt. I really like the convenience of being able to purchase the salt in bag form to refill my glass jar.
