But a dash of Fusion® Szechuan Pepper Salt is just what this dish craves! Szechuan pepper is not as spicy hot as you may expect; it has more of a citrus, woodsy aroma that greets you when you open this jar of salt. Try the missing link that your taste buds have been longing for—fried rice seasoned with Szechuan pepper!

Key Ingredient(s)

Fusion® Szechuan Pepper Salt

  • 2-3 cups cooked white jasmine rice (Note: for best results, cook the rice in the morning or night before and refrigerate)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 small white onion, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 large carrot peeled or about 6 peeled baby carrots sliced
  • 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • Szechuan Pepper Salt, to taste

  1. Preheat a large non-stick skillet or wok to medium heat. Add sesame oil, white onion, peas and carrots and fry until tender, stirring often. (Add more oil if necessary if your veggies are sticking to the pan.)
  2. Move vegetable mixture to one side of the pan and pour the beaten egg on the other. Using a spatula, scramble the egg until fully cooked. Combine everything in the pan.
  3. Add in the rice and a few sprinkles of water if necessary to loosen and stir to combine all ingredients. Once rice is incorporated, add soy sauce. Stir-fry until the rice is heated all the way through. Top with green onion and sprinkle with a generous amount of Szechuan Pepper Salt before serving.
