Sel Gris French Grey Sea Salt is hand harvested from the clay-lined salt ponds in the Guérande region of France, giving it a soft grey color and mineral-rich moisture. One of the most well-known gourmet French sea salts, Sel Gris has a crunchy texture that works well with grilled and braised meats, roasted potatoes and other root vegetables. Though iconic in French cuisine, the characteristic briny flavor pairs nicely with a wide variety of foods, from roasted nuts to stews and salads to cookies, and is one of the most popular salts for topping homemade chocolate caramels. Sel Gris Brut: The large, hefty grains of Sel Gris Brut are perfect to throw in the pot for your seafood boil or brine. The coarse, irregular crystals are great to use as an herb or seasoning rub on grilled and roasted meats. Stir them into soups, stews and sauces for a rich, earthy flavor.
Sel Gris Tamisé (Coarse): The sifted coarse, grey crystals of Sel Gris Tamisé add a pleasing minerality and lasting crunch without overpowering. The Tamisé size is great for cooking, baking and topping caramel and chocolate confections.
Sel Gris Fine: The same Sel Gris as our other varieties, Sel Gris Fine is stone ground by hand until it reaches a fine consistency that is a great replacement for the everyday table salt in your salt shaker. Try it in pasta water, to bake cookies or cupcakes, or as a mineral-rich addition to spice blends and BBQ rubs.
Sel Gris Velvet (Powder): Sel Gris is stone ground by hand until it reaches a smooth, silky feel reminiscent of luxurious velvet. This powdered salt feels similar in texture to fine baking flour, and is perfect for snack foods, such as popcorn, chips and roasted nuts. Due to the extremely fine grain, a little pinch of Sel Gris Velvet goes a long way.
