Description

Sel Gris French Grey Sea Salt is hand harvested from the clay-lined salt ponds in the Guérande region of France, giving it a soft grey color and mineral-rich moisture. One of the most well-known gourmet French sea salts, Sel Gris has a crunchy texture that works well with grilled and braised meats, roasted potatoes and other root vegetables. Though iconic in French cuisine, the characteristic briny flavor pairs nicely with a wide variety of foods, from roasted nuts to stews and salads to cookies, and is one of the most popular salts for topping homemade chocolate caramels. Sel Gris is a delicious, mineral-rich substitute for everyday table salt, and comes in a variety of grain sizes to fit every kitchen.

Sel Gris Velvet (Powder): Sel Gris is stone ground by hand until it reaches a smooth, silky feel reminiscent of luxurious velvet. This powdered salt feels similar in texture to fine baking flour, and is perfect for snack foods, such as popcorn, chips and roasted nuts. Due to the extremely fine grain, a little pinch of Sel Gris Velvet goes a long way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to salt in every day cooking I first tried this salt a few years ago and have reordered it a number of times since. This is my favorite salt for every day cooking. The texture is just perfect, I get it in Tamise grain which is a little coarser than normal table salt. This salt has a high moisture content and a milder flavor than regular sea salt. In my experience it is also a bit less salty, most likely due to high mineral content. Very versatile and great for anything. I even use it when making sauerkraut and pickles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything tastes better w/Sel Gris Grey Sea Salt We have been using this salt for about 4 years now and everyone who tries it, is a huge fan. Just wish I had owned stock! All kidding aside, it's so gourmet, you don't need anything else. For instance, broil or Sous Vide your salmon and put a little butter on it and this salt. You will see that you don't need anything else. It's truly a gourmet item that simplifies your cooking. P.S. It's my 'go to' for gift-giving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for Meats! I love to use this salt on fish and other meats. I think the flavor adds an extra dimension when grilling, braising, and steaming. I also like to use a variety of other salts to round out the minerals available during a meal and increase its nutritional value. For example, I usually use Sel Gris on fish, Red Hawaiian on barbecued meats, Himalayan when baking, Mediterranean for making charcuterie, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well with standard measurements I have tried many sea salts. I settled on this one years ago because it is not only delicious and rich as a finishing salt, but it is o e of the rare sea salts that conforms to standard measurements in recipes. If a recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of salt, you simply use 1 teaspoon of sel gris fine grain. No worries about over or understating your favorite recipes. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite salt I've been buying Sel Gris grey sea salt (fine) from Saltworks for over a decade. I try other salts from them from time to time, but I always return to this one. I like that the salt is exposed to the sun, is harvested by hand, and stone-ground in a part of the world that really cares about the quality and integrity of the salt they produce. This is my favorite salt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go to everyday Salt This is my everyday salt and I love the clean but interesting flavor. It's the right texture for finishing dishes as well as for regular cooking. I also am a use your hands to salt things type of person and love the damp sand texture this salt has. I wouldn't use it to salt your popcorn though- too heavi for that and it sinks to the bottom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sel Gris Velvet It is hard in this world to find simple, good, pure. The Le Tressor salts are such products. For years I have used the fine grind, and recommended it to my patients. As a naturopathic physician I recognize the body's need for salt. As a cook, I find the new velvet grind is even better to work with. My new favorite.
