Crispy Fusion® Thai Ginger Salt Tempura Green Beans

Coated in a light, crunchy tempura batter and fried, the green bean is the perfect backdrop to highlight the aromatic and spicy flavor of Fusion® Thai Ginger Salt. Half spicy and peppery, half lemony and slightly sweet, the Thai Ginger flavor becomes the main attraction in this dish. Ingredients

Vegetable oil to fill 1-2 inches of your cast iron skillet, Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot
1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup sesame seeds
1 cup beer (pilsner, pale ale, lager; any non-dark beer)
Dash of soy sauce
¾ pound green beans, trimmed

Cooking Directions

  • Heat oil in a 4-quart pot or deep cast iron skillet over medium heat until oil reaches 365 degrees F on a candy/deep-fry thermometer.
  • In a bowl large enough to fit the green beans, wisk together the flour, sesame seeds, beer and soy sauce until batter is smooth.
  • Toss about 10 green beans, or as many as your skillet will handle frying at one time, in the batter until coated. Add to oil, one at a time to keep from clumping and control splashing. Fry, turning often, until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Note: to reduce splashing, cover the pan with a mesh splatter screen while the beans are frying.
  • Using tongs, transfer beans to paper towels to drain. Immediately sprinkle with Thai Ginger Salt while still glistening so it will stick. Coat and fry remaining beans in the same way.
  • Serve with your favorite Asian dipping sauce.
